"Unfinished yet complete," descibes this clear painting.
The artist, with boldness, lays in his conception.
First the ground, a warm rose- earth color; next, a
transparent brush drawing, placing the essentials.
Then the flower: first the brightest white; next a
yellow tint. The body in a palegreen dress is set in
with a few strokes; the head simply, yet sensitively,
developed, lit by the brilliant hibiscus.
