BATHERS acryfresco on canvas, 24" x 32" by
Alvin Sandler © 2003
Here a family disports itself at Lake Chapala, The water’s edge provided subjects for many of Sandler’s paintings
in the years 1969 through 1975. Rendered in the artist’s sketchbook, by a pencil line, fleeting moments such as
this provide the basis for compositions done with
sumi ink on rice paper. These were generated on a daily basis
spontaneously. From such studies the artist builds momentum for a painting realized in full color, in this case
with pigments ground in an acryfresco medium applied fluidly to lightly primed linen.
A timeless image in a carved rustic frame. $2100
