TAMINO by Alvin Sandler (signed Sandor ©2004)
to be cast in bronze upon commission, at cost plus artist's fee
The youthful hero of Mozart’s opera plays a magic flute
to guide him in his quest for love and wisdom.
In his present state
Tamino stands outdoors atop a stone
pedestal fountain in the artist's studio garden.
Visitors to Art Entrée may contemplate the gentle sound
of a waterfall which accompanies the elegiac mood of
the sculpture: youth forever young.
So that Sandler could develop this large work (55 inches)
unaided, he designed it of light-weight modern materials.
A welded steel armature supports a structure of carved,
cast, polyurethane foam, covered and finished in
fiberglass-reinforced resin, and coated with a weather
resistant patina.
Tamino is conceived as a timeless bronze sculpture. The
figure in the garden is the final model. Upon commission the
exacting and costly process of lost wax casting will begin.
The cost of production is half the price of the sculpture.
The total price is $25,000 plus shipping and installation.
